Day Two: Walking Tour & Billy Elliot

Yesterday was our first full day here in London. We took a walking tour with a local British professor. Covent Garden was my favorite stop.
It was so beautiful! The columns surrounding us were breathtaking. I could almost see Audrey Hepburn in my fair lady! Covent Garden was the first time I looked around me and felt overwhelmed. My eyes started to water and I felt so blessed to be in London and on this trip.

I wish I knew more about London. The more I see the more I realize I don't know British History very well at all! I really prepared for this trip and I've taken a lot of History courses that involve England and specifically London. But walking around I realize now how much I have to learn in order to really absorb it all.

Billy Elliot was our first play to see with my school group. It was so wonderful! It's about a boy in the 80s, that falls in love with Ballet instead of Boxing like his father had wanted. There's a scene were the 10 year old boy dances with his older self. It was mind blowing! The smoke and lights were like nothing I have ever seen and I'm really not even a theatre fan.
